Game Deployment Woes (Just Give-Up The Ghost Inwards Flash!)

In 1 of my previous posts I released a Pong clone game that, albeit non polished, was a fully working game as well as I was quite proud of it. Of course, equally sometimes happens alongside the deployment of Windows-based games, I was dismayed when I learned nobody who genuinely took an involvement (thanks to you lot faithful few!) was able to run the game :(

That's when the fun began. I asked 1 friend to brand certain he had the DirectX runtime installed as well as fifty-fifty to reinstall it - no luck. I as well as then learned the C++ runtime was required as well as had the same friend perform that install - no luck. I tried ii dissimilar machines alongside the same installations - no luck. Finally I learned it was non only requirements on the target systems; it turns out I had included a debug version of a DirectX library inwards my project, which allowed the plan to survive created as well as executed, just non inwards a agency that it would work!

You see, equally a developer, I convey all of the tools required to run whatever plan I create. But other machines don't necessarily convey these tools/environments. So I intend I'll role the next invention for deploying my adjacent game.
  1. Create a game, coding as well as testing inwards DEBUG mode
  2. Change the projection from DEBUG to RELEASE mode
  3. Replace DEBUG libraries alongside RELEASE libraries
  4. Build the projection inwards RELEASE mode
  5. Create an installer projection to install the game, the C++ runtime, as well as the DirectX runtime
  1. Create a Flash game that tin survive played from a spider web page inwards whatever browser!
Now all I demand to create is larn to plan a game inwards Flash...
